How to Fill SSC Post Preferences Without Regretting It

After the main exam, SSC opens an option form in which you rank the posts and departments you are willing to join. Allocation is then done by computer: the highest-ranked candidate gets their first available choice, and so on down the list. There is no second round and no change afterwards.

Rules that catch people out

A simple method

  1. Strike out posts whose physical, medical or subject requirements you do not meet.
  2. Group the rest by pay level.
  3. Within each level, order by posting location and nature of work.
  4. Include every post you would actually join, to the end of the list.

Pay levels are explained in outline on govtpvt.com job pages, where each notification is summarised with its pay scale. Start from the latest jobs list.
